GFI Fax Software Replacement
Q. Currently we use GFI fax software to handle the reception and storage of faxes not assigned to physical devices. It works well but its only drawback is that it has a card connected to a physical machine that I’m trying to virtualize into Citrix Xenapp.
Does anyone know of a product that I can plug fax lines into that will take the fax and print it to a domain printer and also store in the user's home drive folder, but that doesn’t require a workstation or server?
Thank you.

A. We are using a Panasonic Panafax UF-8000. Basically a fax machine with a fax server built in. It forwards faxes to an email address and converts to PDF. Old school, but it requires virtually zero maintenance.

A. We use a FaxFinder FF830. Faxes can be emailed or printed out. On bid day we have faxes going to a folder. Then they get printed to high speed laser printers in the bid room. You also have a digital saved copy just in case.

A. If you have a PRI for your phone system then GFI has a Brooktrout SR140 software adapter that you can run in a virtual machine. I’ve had my GFI Faxmaker running on VMware for several years with the ability to answer 12 concurrent faxes at a time. I think they also have another software adapter available but I have not researched it since my setup is working.
Funny story: we had some city employees here watching while we were bidding a job. One of them was wanted to see our fax solution. I explained it was virtual but could tell it wasn’t sinking in. I then showed him the server room, pointed at the servers in the rack and said "it’s in there" and he was happy.
