It was amazing to see the number of participants double from the first conference last year to this year’s conference in Chicago. The AGC EIS leadership team did a great job in not only the organization of the event but in moderating the discussion and asking questions of the participants to get ideas and conversation flowing. In most conferences you can expect to take home two good ideas to act on, I believe most everyone got at least 10 takeaways from this conference. Can’t wait for next year!

AGC’s IT Forum Conference provided a great opportunity for members of the AGC to gather and discuss recent innovations and developments in technologies that impact the construction industry, how to leverage these new technologies and voice their opinions on what is needed to aid in their businesses.

The 2010 AGC IT Forum Conference was an excellent venue for the exchange of ideas and solutions and I feel like I brought a lot of valuable information home with me. Perhaps the most important thing I learned was that most all of the companies represented, regardless of revenue, IT staffing or geographic location, are all faced with surprisingly common issues. I had grown used to thinking that many of our challenges are unique due to our size and staffing, but now I’ve learned that many are fairly common. By working together with other contractors to attack those challenges we can prevail much more efficiently whereas as an individual would likely flounder.

Great event and would definitely call it a success. The IT Forum Conference provided a fantastic venue to openly discuss emerging technologies in our industry along with common IT issues facing our companies. The opportunity to share in lessons learned or experiences both good and bad is a great way to help each other better our industry and ultimately what we provide our owners. If there is anything constant in construction it’s constant change, and being able to share ideas and experiences with associates and colleagues is in my opinion an invaluable resource.

I don’t know if I can describe just one memorable moment. I would have to say there were a series of valuable moments which will keep me coming back for more. I think what was impressive to me was the sheer size of the group and how people actively participated in the breakout sessions. Also, the bonds which have been formed over the course of those two days have continued to progress and have added some much needed benefits to our organization. I will make sure I am signed up early for next year’s conference.

First off, it was great to see so many individuals from all over the country in attendance from the same industry especially during this economic climate, and the continuous growth of this group will assist our industry in discovering ways to be more efficient. I sincerely appreciate the time and effort that went into putting this event together, the topics were great, the people were great and the discussions were superb. I take away some of the most invaluable information from this event each year that assist me in molding a more secure, productive and efficient environment for our office and field personnel to deliver the best projects possible to our clients. I look forward to next year’s event and building more relationships.
