August 14-15, 2013
Please join us in Chicago on August 14 and 15, 2013 for the 5th annual AGC IT Forum Conference where great peer-to-peer collaboration and networking are central! This year our theme is Strong IT Knowledge Driving Excellent Business Decisions.
Dynamic conference sessions include:
Game Changing Technology Trends in Construction IT
James Benham, President of JB Knowledge Technologies Inc., makers of SmartBidNet construction bid software, has dedicated his career to building innovative information technology that enhances the user experience. Have you ever questioned cloud security? Wanted to learn more about open software integration and how it could benefit your firm? Or wondered how augmented reality can actually be implemented? In this dynamic session, Mr. Benham sorts through the latest trends in building technologies, identifying short-term fads and long-term game changers from tablets and unified authentication to virtual BIM and automated machinery. Learn about real companies whose implementation of mobile technology and online collaboration has allowed them to maximize efficiency. Mr. Benham will also release, for the first time, the results of the second annual Construction Technology Integration Report, and allow attendees to participate in live polling, via social media, to gauge industry-wide technology adoption among their peers.
Keynote Speech on Cybersecurity
With the ever increasing attacks on computer networks, cybersecurity is becoming a hot topic for IT managers. Deloitte Director Damian Walch will share the latest attack vectors, computer and network vulnerabilities, emerging attack strategies and new defensive techniques you can use.
Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity
Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity (DR/BC) are important considerations for your IT plan. A panel of IT managers from AGC’s contractor member firms will lead a discussion on a host of topics around DR/BC. These include: the key components of each; important considerations for your plans as they relate to employees, customers, others; creating a plan (if you don’t have one); DR/BC teams, what they are, who is on the team and how the team works; warm/hot sites; planning for staff relocation if your facility is no longer available; paying employees during a disaster/crisis when they cannot work; remote access for mobile and telecommuters.
Affordable Solutions
Do you have a list of projects a mile long but the budget to do only half? Del Ameko, IT Manager at Jaynes Corporation, will share some of the practical solutions and ideas that he has employed while leading a group discussion on the many ways you can save money while staying on budget.
Interoperability in the Construction Industry: The Road Ahead
The AGC recently took another significant step forward towards the fulfillment of interoperability for the construction industry! Christian Burger, of Burger Consulting Group, will discuss how agcXML will revolutionize the construction industry and how the industry does business. He will also discuss the current state of agcXML including the vision, next steps, and how you can
become involved in this very important initiative. Christian will present several common construction practices which will likely leverage agcXML in the near term for better efficiency.
Mobile Devices: Construction In A Post PC World
Whether you’re building a high rise or a highway, the success of your project depends on how connected your team is to critical information from site preparation and design through the construction and close-out phases. Unfortunately, much of the IT infrastructure in place today hasn’t kept pace with today’s increasingly mobile workforce, a workforce that needs access to up-to-date information from any location, at any time.
This panel featuring Justin Burleigh of Bechtel, a global leader in engineering, construction, and project management; and Julie O’Brien of Box, a leader in enterprise content collaboration, will cover:
- Current state and latest trends of mobility in construction
- Innovative use cases for mobile technologies
- Best practices around document management and collaboration
- Security considerations for enabling a "Post PC era" workforce
- The new enterprise application checklist
