TRENDS IN TECHNOLOGY

Flying cars may not be the norm these days, as predicted in "Back to the Future II," when Doc Brown and Marty McFly traveled 30 years into the future and landed on Oct. 21, 2015, but there are many technological inventions in play now than there were in 1985.

Seeking an extremely secure electronic plan room that could function without Internet connectivity, Balfour Beatty Construction turned to Egnyte while reconstructing and updating more than 2 million square feet in the terminals at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Have an older generation iPhone? The new iOS 9.2.1 update can potentially make your experience easier, according to a new series of YouTube videos featuring side-by-side comparisons with devices running iOS 8.4.1. Although installing 9.2.1 still causes an iPhone 4S or 5 to boot slower, once in action the software can load apps as fast or faster than 8.4.1 in many circumstances, according to iAppleBytes.

VDC for Design Phase Management & Preconstruction
Tuesday, October 20, 2015 to Wednesday, October 21, 2015
Orlando, Florida

The use of virtual design and construction (VDC) techniques is becoming more widespread in just about every global economy. Governments, such as in the United Kingdom, are even setting targets for required VDC/BIM within the next few years. We would like to explore how the utilization of VDC techniques in the design and planning phase are ultimately impacting our project outcomes.
