The elegance and simplicity of the Southwest design contributes to the complexity of the
execution of this continuous forged railing from the second story overlook to the basement in a
private residence on a wildlife preserve.
The company was given a narrow fabrication window but ultimately exceeded expectations with the talent and assistance of a NOMMA partner. The total job consisted of fabrication, finishing, and installation of the four staircases between floating platforms and nearly four hundred foot of rail. Every element of the rail was forged and given a blackened oil rubbed finish. The largest challenge was working with the forged verticals and getting the 3/4” round horizontals to pass through the hot pierced 1” round verticals, while keeping aligned both on the rake of the stairway and the level landings which pass through the 2” forged post and are hot riveted.
