 To gather feedback on the type of work that NOMMA members are working on, the Code Advocacy Committee has developed a quick survey. Our Code Advocacy Membership Survey wants to find out the type of projects our members are working on (such as elevator enclosure, sky bridges etc.)
This survey will only take a couple of minutes but will be very helpful in our advocacy efforts.

 Welcome to Kimberlee (Kim) Williams, senior association manager of Membership, who is the newest member of NOMMA’s staff!
She comes to NOMMA with more than 20 years of association experience, working for small- to larger-sized organizations. “I have had the opportunity to learn and work in various roles. I’ll be focused on customer service, membership development and data management. I hope to continue learning and enhancing my skills to assist with the growth, retention and engagement of NOMMA,” says Williams.
She looks forward to meeting and talking with members at METALfab in Oklahoma City Feb. 28-March 3, 2023. In the meantime, she is soaking up as much as possible to learn more about the association's processes and procedures.
“I look forward to sharing ideas for consideration and working with the Membership Committee and NOMMA team in advancing the organization,” she says. “I enjoy new challenges and looking for new ways to engage members and to help NOMMA members in their journey. I look forward to learning more about NOMMA’s data and how we can gather information about our members to assist with personalizing their member experience.”
When she is not working, Williams – based in the Chicago suburb of Lansing, Ill. – loves spending time with family and friends and hosting holiday events. She also enjoys movies, and for vacation, she and her husband enjoy cruises.

 The Metal Museum is now accepting applications for apprenticeships and internships in both their foundry and their smithy.
You will have the opportunity to learn from the Studios team while working on commissioned projects, participating in conferences, and assisting with classes, programs, and more.

Compass Ironworks was tasked with bringing these beautiful wrought iron French gates back to life after they were crushed by a massive oak tree during a heavy rain storm. Damage was extensive, and the team ended up completely dissecting the gates and rebuilding the entire frame. They gates also required some careful refurbishing, including the recreation of several detailed castings.
During the process, a surprising discovery was made: an old stamp on the material that said "Nantes." Finally, the client knew where the gates came from: Nantes, France.
The final step was to create new hinges and mount them onto the original gate pillars. Thanks to the dedication and detailed restoration skills of Compass Ironworks, these gates now stand proud at the estate's entrance, welcoming the owners and their visitors in elegant style.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) reported this fall that 42% of businesses with a decline in profits indicated that it was due to the rise of cost for materials, while 21% believed it was due to weaker sales. Only a scant 3% blamed higher taxes or regulatory costs.
But another NFIB survey from 2021 found that, when asked about their biggest tax concerns, 90% of small businesses said their biggest burden was the federal income tax. This dichotomy could be because many small business owners worry most about taxes only when the filing deadline approaches.
So, as the tax season draws nearer, consider this advice from Forbes and add this item to your to-do list: "Make your last-minute tax maneuvers to reduce your bill come April."
