Gold: La Forge De Style
Title of Entry: Nickel Silver Railing Material: Nickel silver Finish: Patina with lacquer and wax Total Labor Hours:2800
This gorgeous single flight railing and balcony was completed by La Forge De Style. It was the first time the company had completed a project of this scale and complexity entirely of nickel silver. All the parts were machined, formed, or extruded.
The project encountered numerous challenges. Countless design changes ranged from a full redesign after complete shop drawings and engineering approval, to a material change from bronze to nickel silver, to sourcing adequate material for all parts of the project.
This was a very labor intense project for the La Forge team; the 2800 hours of work are impressive enough, and that tally doesn't even include all the CNC machining time for the double-faced medallions.
The architect and designer were both involved, with the designer taking the lead, and the final product was very dfiferent from the one the group had in mind at the outset of the project. Despite all the hurdles, La Forge De Style felt it was a thrilling and worthwhile endeavor. The results are magnificent.

A spring 2023 survey by Sikich found that optimism among manufacturing leaders is still low. According to the most recent Sikich Industry Pulse: Manufacturing and Distribution, over half of manufacturers said they now rate their optimism for future business prospects at a 7 or less on a scale of 1 to10.
Top factors given for this less-than-positive trend included:
• Economic conditions
• Labor shortage challenges
• Interest rates
There is some encouraging news, however: 43% of survey respondents said they are seeing consistent or even increased customer demand, while 35% cited some supply chain improvement.
Read the full survey summary here.
