The Metal Museum's biggest event of the year is just around the corner! Each fall, the museum welcomes more than 100 metalsmiths from across the country to take part in a weekend of fine art, learning and collaboration in Memphis. Artists repair metal objects brought in by community members, and proceeds go toward the annual programming offered by the museum throughout the year, including educational initiatives, new exhibitions, and artist residency programs.
There are many ways you can get involved! Consider becoming a Friend of Repair Days, buying tickets to the Dinner + Art Auction, donating artwork to the Auction, becoming a corporate sponsor, volunteering, or simply bringing in something for the metalsmiths to repair. View the full schedule and learn all about how to get involved at metalmuseum.org/repair-days.

Freight Shipping Best Practices
Our September Roundtable centered on strategies for successful freight shipping. Chris Morris provided several key tips, including the following:
- Look for opportunities to route your own freight from suppliers
- Invest in proper packaging, which helps prevent issues that lead to claims
- When shipping LTL, ensure that you have the proper class: don't overpay, and try to have an accurate quote so you aren't back-charged unexpectedly
- Hot shots cost less than full-size flatbeds (ask yourself: is my shipment under 30'?)
- LTL carriers have different levels of security in shipping. Be careful shipping finished goods with an economy carrier!
