Course description: The NWCOA Bat Standards is offered by NWCOA to aid in the survival and future of bats in the North America, as well as to educate those who perform bat exclusion services in residential and commercial structures.
The Bat Standards Certified Course (Part 1) covers bat biology (little brown, big brown, free-tailed, and pallid bats), bat behavior, bat identification, bat morphology, service agreement language for bat removal and guano removal, seasonal restrictions, inspection techniques, equipment, safety, detailed exclusion techniques, job pricing, decontamination techniques, rabies, bat handling, updated white-nose syndrome information, and much more.
This course is a one day, classroom style training course taught by Certified NWCOA Instructors. Upon completion of this course and successful passing of a test, the WCO will become NWCOA Bat Standards Certified. Successful students will also receive a certificate of completion and have use of the logo mark in marketing materials.
The Bat Standards Certified Course, Part 1 covers:
- bat biology (little brown, big brown, free-tailed, and pallid bats),
- bat behavior,
- bat identification,
- bat morphology,
- service agreement language for bat removal and guano removal,
- seasonal restrictions,
- inspection techniques,
- equipment and safety,
- detailed exclusion techniques,
- job pricing,
- decontamination techniques,
- rabies,
- bat handling,
- updated white-nose syndrome information, and much more.
The NWCOA Structural Bat Management Professional course will be presented for the first time in Minneapolis, MN on April 13-14, 2019.

NWCOA Bat Standards Certified, Part I is a pre-requisite for this course!
This two-day course includes one day of classroom style training that gives instruction on pricing, sales, liabilities and bat seal-up and guano removal contracts. The class will provide inspection instruction, as well as group practice in inspection. The first day will also include euthanasia and safety, PPE and decontamination protocols.
The second day will be a hands-on interactive instructional day. The group will learn about working at heights and use of scaffolding and ladders. Logistical concerns will be covered. Metal bending classroom instruction, as well as hands-on metal bending techniques will be covered. Finally, ridge, roof exhaust vent repair, chimney repairs and gable vents will be discussed.
Upon successful completion of this course and a test, the WCO will receive a certificate of completion, use of the logo mark and become a NWCOA Certified Structural Bat Management Professional.

NWCOA Certified Wildlife Control Operator Training Course – earn Your Virginia Commercial Nuisance Animal Permit! The WCOTC is a two-day training program that provides attendees with systematic instruction on the essential aspects of vertebrate pest control. The course utilizes 11 individual classes which cover 14.5 hours of instruction. The training course is organized around 4 key content domains: Rationale and Need for Wildlife Damage Management, The Technician, The Practice of Wildlife Damage Management, and Applied Wildlife Damage Management.
This training program is taught by instructors with years of direct field experience coupled with extensive classroom training. NWCOA’s instruction is vetted by industry leaders so attendees can be confident that our information/training is based on real-life experience and backed by science.
