FDACS Warns Consumers of Potential Impacts of Spray Foam Insulation

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) released a warning to consumers regarding potential impacts of spray foam insulation on wood destroying organism contracts and pest management efforts.   In the release, Florida Agriculture Commissioner, Nikki Fried and FDACS warned that consumers should receive a termite inspection before installing spray foam insulation and have the spray foam installer communicate with their pest control company to determine if there is an installation option that acceptable to both parties.  FDACS’ communication also reminded consumers that renovations made to the structure that might impact the ability of a termite inspector to perform a visual inspection may void WDO contracts. Additionally the release warned that improperly installed spray foam insulation may create a conditions conducive to termite infestation.
