This week, the US Environmental Protection Agency issued a proposed rule which would further extend the deadline for states, territories, tribes and federal agencies with existing certification plans to comply with the updated standards in the 2017 Certification of Pesticide Applicators Rule. The previous deadline was November 4, 2022. The proposed rule extends the deadline up to, but not beyond, November 4th 2024. EPA has reviewed all plan modifications proposals submitted by states and will be sending feedback on proposals for plan implementation. This extension is intended to allow additional time for states to implement updated plans and provide uninterrupted programs for certified applicators.
