Dear NPMA Members,
By now many of you may be aware of an organization that is soliciting NPMA members under the name “National Pest Management Professional Association” or “NPMPA”. It’s been several months since they have solicited our industry but over the last week, we have heard from many members they are back at their attempts to “impersonate” NPMA by sending fake solicitations from an individual named Steven Miller.
NPMA is well aware of this group and their dishonest tactics. Over the last year we have learned that this group, which is allegedly headquartered on the island of Nevis, has targeted numerous service industries, including Realtors and HVAC. In an attempt to dissuade them from them sending unwanted and false solicitations to our members, we have sent multiple cease and desist letters to the organization and Steven Miller personally in addition to filing a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), in addition to state Attorney Generals (AGs).
As a reminder, the “National Pest Management Association®” is a registered trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and we therefore are entitled to certain proprietary rights and protections under federal and state laws. Specifically, NPMA is entitled to restrict the use of the trademark, or a confusingly similar trademark, in connection with confusingly similar products or services.
The “National Pest Management Professional Association” or “NPMPA” is not associated with NPMA in any way.
So that we can continue to build our case against this group, we do ask that if you are solicited, please forward us any correspondence so that we can in-turn pass this on. We apologize for the ongoing nuisance that these emails have caused and appreciate your assistance in helping us combat this group.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at 800.678.6722 or npma@pestworld.org.
