Two great training courses are being presented by the National Wildlife Control Operators Association (NWCOA) in the May in the Mid-Atlantic region, the NWCOA Wildlife Control Operator Training course on May 17 & 18, 2019 and the NWCOA Certified Bird Management course on May 19th. All PMPs and WCOs are welcome to attend.
The Wildlife Control Operator Training course is a two-day program that covers a wide array of topics including animal handling, euthanasia, inspection and safety and biology and control of birds, squirrels and other commonly encountered species. The course is taught by Master NWCOA Instructors and Certified NWCOA Instructors, who are also practitioners, giving students invaluable first-hand information about dealing with challenging trapping and exclusion situations and animal control issues.
The NWCOA Certified Bird Management Course (Part 1) will be offered by NWCOA to train WCOs that currently perform or wish to add residential and small commercial bird management to their wildlife management services. The course covers the biology and behavior of commonly encountered bird species, damage identification, zoonotic disease, business management and customer relations, control methods, habitat modification including exclusion, frightening devices, shooting and trapping, and toxicants and repellents.
Both courses provide certification to those who complete the training and successful pass a test administered at the end of the training event. Successful students receive a certificate of completion, use of the logo and promotional materials and carry the respective certification, NWCOA Wildlife Control Operator Training or NWCOA Certified Bird Management, which is valid for 5 years.
