Media Relations Program Secures AARP Online Placement

NPMA educates consumers on spring and summer pests

The Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), the consumer marketing arm of NPMA, leads the charge on educating Americans on the threats posed by pests and the importance of working with a pest control professional through their consumer media relations efforts.

The spring and summer months are peak pest season making consumer education key and PPMA has been hard at work securing valuable media placements on behalf of the industry. In its most recent PPMA Update, a monthly newsletter shared with investors, the group reported its March media coverage highlights.

First, NPMA was featured in an article on AARP Online about preventing pests in the kitchen. The media website boasts an audience of 5.2 million unique visitors per month and the article included prevention tips and an expert recommendation to seek assistance from a pest control professional. Even better, this story also included a link to the Zip Code Locator on PestWorld.org.

The group also made a return to AccuWeather’s podcast, Everything Under the Sun, on AccuWeather Online to share updates about the invasive Joro spider and termite prevention tips. NPMA was also featured in an article on Good Housekeeping Online about preventing wasps around the house.

March also featured the release of NPMA’s Spring/Summer Bug Barometer® predictions. The Bug Barometer® forecast was featured in broadcast segments across the country, including KCTV, Kansas City’s CBS affiliate, WJBK, Detroit’s FOX affiliate and WTVQ, Lexington’s ABC affiliate. PennLive.com also covered the Bug Barometer® predictions for the Northeast. This article was picked up by many local outlets, including LehighValleyLive.com, The Morning Call Online and the Olean Times Herald Online, while MLive.com and WCRZ Online highlighted the pest forecast for Michigan.

PPMA connects with commercial audiences as well with recent wins appearing on FacilitiesNet, Facility Cleaning & Maintenance and CleanLink (including one article on pest control during the pandemic and another on termite infestations).
