Important change regarding our 2023 Legislative Day: Earlier this month, the 2023 House Schedule was released, and Congress is unfortunately on recess during our previously announced program dates. The most important component of Legislative Day is bringing in nearly 400 constituents who advocate directly with their elected leaders on issues imperative to our industry. Therefore, in consultation with NPMA’s leadership, the decision was made to change the dates for Legislative Day to take place March 22-24, 2023, with the Hill day taking place on Thursday, March 23. We are extremely fortunate that we were able to quickly locate and confirm sufficient space for our event and will remain at the Capital Hilton again this year.
In the past 20+ years of hosting Legislative Day, NPMA has never had to adjust its schedule based on Congress being on recess. Coming off this year's mid-term elections, it’s vital that we forge relationships with new members of Congress while strengthening the existing ones we have developed over the years. The last time our industry had a chance to do in-person meetings on Capitol Hill was March of 2020. Three years later, we very much want to be in person and present for these important meetings instead of another year of virtual appointments.
2023 is a Farm Bill reauthorization year. This giant piece of legislation takes place twice per decade and we need a strong showing of members to help us get pesticide preemption passed and push back against activists groups that want to limit the authority of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). NPMA has found that our relationships are strongest with Hill offices that we’ve met with in person, and we hope to build upon those relationships through in-person member engagement.
Registration is now open and full details regarding this new schedule are available online.
