To support the Hawaii Pest Control Association, NPMA worked alongside their representatives to address a proposed travel restriction into West Maui. This restriction would have potentially prohibited pest management professionals from working on that side of the island. On Monday, 8/14, the County of Maui proposed a placard system requiring proof of employment and/or residence in West Maui to travel to that side of the island. On Tuesday, NPMA and HPCA sent letters to the mayor of Maui, the administrator of the Maui emergency management services, and the Governor’s representative on the island. Tuesday night, the Governor released a statement allowing for travel to resume normally with a curfew at 10 pm.
Our thoughts are with those affected by catastrophic Maui wildfires, and we stand united with the community during this challenging time. Donations can be made to those in need through the Hawai'i Community Foundation for the Maui Strong Fund.
