SFC, SPFA and NPMA Align Efforts to Prevent Subterranean Termite Infestations
The American Chemistry Council’s Spray Foam Coalition (SFC), the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) and the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) announced last week a cooperative effort aimed at developing innovative solutions to help prevent subterranean termites from entering homes. Together, the three organizations will foster ideas that marry both the benefits of spray foam insulation, including overall thermal efficiency and energy savings, with the need for pest management companies to visually inspect crawl spaces for subterranean termites throughout the home. The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) today released its bi-annual Vector Sectors™ list of the top 10 U.S. cities with the greatest risk for increased pest pressure from vector pests, including rodents and cockroaches, for the remainder of winter. As vectors of disease, these pests are able to transmit pathogens such as Salmonella and hantavirus to humans. They are also known to trigger allergy and asthma symptoms, especially in children, making awareness and prevention vital to protecting public health.
