Congress is closing in on another COVID-19 stimulus bill in late July, and NPMA wanted to take advantage of the weeks leading up the bill formation. We created a campaign during June to focus on one COVID related bill every week; NPMA CEO Dominique Stumpf sent a letter to Congressional leadership, NPMA tweeted, and members were encouraged to send messages via Voter Voice. Our results were great!
Supporting Tax Credits for the industry in The AG CHAIN Act: 345 messages
Supporting Disinfectant Tax Credits in The CLEAN START Act: 82 messages
Opposing the removal of Small Business Exemptions in The HEROES Act: 274 messages
NPMA members sent 701 messages to Congress in June on these three issues, highlighting the important of all in the next COVID-19 bill. Discussions are happening now, and the timeframe floating around the hill is between the 20th of July and the end of the month. It will likely be at the later end of that time frame. The Republicans have indicated the bill will be around 1 trillion, but Democrats have said that is too low. Items being floated include additional direct payments, liability, extension of moratorium on evictions, unemployment insurance and a host of other items. NPMA will continue to push for these three as well as a bill extending PPP eligibility to 501c6 organizations.
I hope this finds you, your family, and your business safe and healthy.
As we continue to navigate this pandemic together I want to personally thank you for your commitment to NPMA. Serving all of you is our number one priority, most recently insuring that your business was classified as an essential service in every state, allowing you to provide services to protect the public’s health, food and property.
The PestWorld convention and success thereof is critical to your business as well as the health of your association. In light of the existing public health crisis as it exists today, we want to hear from you. Your voice is very important to us.
To date, NPMA is planning to host the PestWorld convention October 13-16 in Nashville, TN, as directed in late June by your NPMA Board of Directors. With that said, we are closely monitoring this public health crisis, including phases in opening and closing states, quarantines and other pertinent data, both in Nashville and across the country. Our ongoing communications with the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center provide us regular updates on how to host the safest convention possible under strict and ever evolving state and city ordinances.
To supplement our presumed reduction in attendance, specifically international delegates, we are complementing the face to face convention with a virtual component that will be hosted 2 weeks after PestWorld concludes.
As part of the virtual program, all attendees that register for PestWorld (LIVE) will receive a complimentary online pass, where they can watch presentations they weren’t able to attend, spend more time in the exhibit hall and expand their networking opportunities with industry colleagues.
Your voice matters. Please take this short survey to help guide us in decisions moving forward with your PestWorld convention.
Your voice is important to us, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us at NPMA.
Dominique Stumpf, CEO Alexis Wirtz, Senior VP of Meetings
