Last week, NPMA submitted comments to EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs regarding the Lambda-Cyhalothrin and Gamma-Cyhalothrin Proposed Interim Registration Review Decision. NPMA’s comments focused on clarifying the underlying structural pest control use assumptions that resulted in the risk assessments for human health and ecological risks. Specific uses are proposed to be eliminated from label directions and additional PPE is proposed for certain applications. In addition to our comments NPMA has reached out directly to EPA to learn how we can better educate or provide data regarding the maximum daily exposure values that EPA uses for their decision-making process. Rep. Porter of Indiana and Member of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus introduced HB 1415 which is a bed bug bill that outlines duties and responsibilities for landlords, tenants, and PMPs. In most circumstances, PMPs must be hired to inspect and treat for bed bugs. NPMA joined the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) Corporate Round Table and Rep. Herod of Colorado introduced her bed bug law at the Annual Legislative Conference in December, where it earned the NBCSL’s endorsement of model legislation. This is the first bill introduced after NBCSL endorsed Rep. Herod’s bed bug law. We look forward to working with Rep. Porter and having more bills introduced by Black Caucus members in states across the country.

PPMA Calls On Industry to Participate in Termite Awareness Week
The Professional Pest Management Alliance is encouraging members to spread awareness about this destructive pest during Termite Awareness Week
As much of the nation waits patiently for the arrival of spring, the pest control industry is readying itself for termite season. To help prepare consumers as well, the Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), which serves as the public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), is working to educate homeowners during Termite Awareness Week, March 7-13, 2021. This annual designation is recognized by Chase’s Calendar of Events and serves as a crucial reminder to homeowners about the property risks and costly damage associated with termites.
