The NPMA Impact Awards for Women in Pest Management honor and celebrate exceptional women at all levels within the pest management industry. NPMA is actively seeking nominations of women across the field, in any role, including management, technical/service, sales, or office. Recipients will be honored at NPMA’s Women’s Leadership Forum, May 3-5, in Nashville, TN and nominations will be accepted through Friday, April 8.

Applications are now being accepted for 2022 grants. K-12 teachers, educators, and organizers of educational programs are encouraged to apply. The grants-winners will be announced mid-September. Connecticut has two bills currently in the legislature that would significantly harm the industry. The first is SB 120 which would ban neonic usage in the state as of October 1, 2022. CTPCA has mobilized in opposition, and has a VoterVoice which has already driven over 70 messages to policymakers. The industry is asking for exemption from this bill to ensure we are able to continue protecting public health. The following representatives are cosponsors: Rep. David Michel, 146th Dist., Rep. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) identifies eligible industries for the Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contracting Program (WOSB Program), which provides set-aside and sole- source contract opportunities to small business concerns owned and controlled by women. To be an eligible industry for the WOSB Program, SBA must determine through a study that women are either underrepresented or substantially underrepresented in Federal contracting in that industry. This notice identifies the eligible industries for the WOSB Program based on the results of SBA's most recent study.

PWIPM of New England awarded the 3rd Annual Women of Excellence Award to Hope Bowman BCE of Waltham Pest Services. Hope joined Waltham Pest Services in 2019 as the Technical, Training, and Quality Manager covering the New England Market. She is a Board-Certified Entomologist and has been on the Board of the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania Pest Management Association and the New England Pest Management Association.

Her nominator, Christian Weppert wrote in part “She has truly earned the reputation as one of the most respected, accomplished, and influential women in our industry.”

The Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA) today announced it has appointed several new members to its board of directors. Bert Dodson, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Dodson Pest Control headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia; Justin McCauley, NPMA president-elect and CEO of McCauley Services of Bryant, Arkansas; and Dan Carrothers, North American Professional Solutions commercial director at Philadelphia-based FMC Corp. have joined the board as at-large members.
