It’s National Volunteer Week!

On Tuesday April 5th, the assembly committee on Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials held a hearing to discuss AB 2146 that would ban the use of neonics for non-agricultural use in the state. Members of the PCOC testified in opposition of the bill. The committee did vote to pass the bill on to the appropriations committee, but our members and industry partners have scheduled a meeting with the sponsor of the legislation to advocate for some key exemptions to be added into the bill.

April is National Pest Management Month (NPMM), an annual observance that celebrates the pest management industry for its commitment to the protection of public health, food, and property from pests. In honor of this observance, we’d like to thank the pest control professionals who help keep our customers protected from the threat of pests!
In 2021, the pest control industry grew 8.2 percent compared to the previous year, according to the latest market report, A Strategic Analysis of the U.S. Structural Pest control Industry from Specialty Consultants, LLC. This growth is exceptional, but believe it or not, it could have been even better, were it not for the challenges in recruiting and retaining employees.

NPMA’s Pestology blog was created with the pest management professional in mind. The pest control industry is driven by science, but often the newest scientific discoveries are not easily digestible and not communicated to the end user (you!). With that in mind, NPMA’s PhD entomologists on staff set off to read the latest pest management scientific articles and translate them into plain English for the non-scientist. Find not only the latest research, but a few pest control tips along the way in condensed articles.
