The Pest Management Foundation has announced the creation of the New Jersey Pest Management Association Pest Professional Stewardship Scholarship, generously endowed by the New Jersey Pest Management Association. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior each year in the state of New Jersey entering the field of professional pest management who has a parent or guardian working in pest management. The deadline for applications for this year’s scholarship is June 15, 2023.
Professional Women in Pest Management (PWIPM) grants, supported by Rentokil Terminix, can advance a career in the pest management industry or help to reduce the costs related to education. Grants are a maximum of $1,000 and include a free registration for PestWorld and an additional $1,000 towards travel expenses to the conference. In 2023, PestWorld is in Hawaii! The deadline for applications is June 15, and recipients will be notified by July 1. The reimbursement limit for recipients who do not live on O'ahu will be $2,000 for 2023.
The NPMA Women of Excellence Award, sponsored by Target Specialty Products, recognizes women who advance the pest management industry every day, in every way. The international honor is open to women across the pest management industry — PMPs, manufacturers, research organizations, etc. — who demonstrate outstanding leadership and have made notable contributions to the development and growth of the profession, their business, and other women in the industry. Nominations close June 15, 2023.
As the summer rolls in and state sessions come to a close, NPMA is working on proactive projects to aid the industry. Staff is working with members to develop a state strategy in response to the EPA’s Rodenticide PIDs, specifically looking into states whose current direct supervision definitions and requirements would be burdensome to industry. We are also working with members and SPARs to develop bed bug legislation to introduce in the next legislative sessions. Staff is also working to put together a set of SPAR resources to assist new SPARs in their vital role in the industry.
Opening General Session Thursday, October 19, 8:00 AM — 9:30 AM
