This week, NPMA met with the personal office of Rep. David Scott (D-GA-13), who is the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Agriculture. During the meeting, NPMA discussed the importance of state-level pesticide preemption and highlighted the economic impact that our industry has in the state.
NPMA also learned that Senate Committee on Agriculture Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Ranking Member John Boozman (R-AR) are pushing to get a one-year extension of the 2018 Farm Bill included in a new continuing resolution that will be needed to keep the government funded after November 17th. In a recent article, Sen. Boozman commented, “That doesn't mean we have to take a year to pass a farm bill, but it takes the pressure off of us. It takes the pressure off of farmers, and then we're continuing to do our best to get a farm bill in a better situation.”
