Last week, NPMA checked in with Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow’s (D-MI) committee staff, during which we launched our new What They Are Saying (PDF) leave-behind and continued a productive conversation about the inclusion of state-level preemption language in the upcoming Farm Bill. During this meeting, we discussed the current status of the Farm Bill and were instructed by committee staff to work on building support for a 2024 passage of the bill. This instruction is well-timed with NPMA’s Legislative Day coming up in a few short weeks. During Legislative Day, NPMA members should be sure to highlight the urgency of passing pesticide preemption this year to avoid looming state-level preemption rollbacks.
