The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has awarded the winners of the 2013 Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Awards. Award winners were honored in late February in St. Petersburg, FL, for implementing hearing loss prevention practices in the work environment.
NRMCA member Vulcan Materials Company earned one of the awards; it was cited for its data-driven hearing loss prevention program, innovative and cost-effective noise measurement and control strategies. Vulcan provides extensive noise measurement and control training for select employees to function as industrial hygiene support staff. Vulcan was also praised for integrating GPS technologies and video into their noise measurement protocols for mobile workers.
