Wal-Mart Concrete Pour Requires Change in City Ordinance

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Officials of the city of Spring Hill, TN, are considering a change to the city’s "Offenses Against the Peace and Quiet" ordinance that would allow the city administrator to decide if a building or highway construction or demolition project should be allowed into the now-banned construction noise hours of 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. The reason for the discussion is that Wal-Mart will be undertaking a major concrete pour at some point, likely in June, that’s expected to take 18 hours or more, and as it stands, it would be against a city ordinance to create that much construction noise near a residential neighborhood into the night.
