Concrete Shortage in United Kingdom Looms for Major Projects

The UK’s biggest projects are facing a shortage of concrete due to the dwindling availability of a key material. Ready mixed concrete incorporating fly ash or ground-granulated blastfurnace slag (GGBS) is commonly used on most major civil engineering projects, but supplies of fly ash have fallen recently due to the decline in use of coal by power plants.
