Oldcastle Midwest Group Wins 2014 NRMCA Innovation-in-Training Award

It is with great pleasure that the Educational Activities Committee announces that the 2014 Innovation in Training Award is awarded to Oldcastle Materials Group, Midwest Division, for its "Environmental Education for the Construction Industry". A critical aspect of the program is keeping ready mixed concrete staff actively engaged during their annual review of environmental best practices and compliance regulations. After surveying previous years’ participants, Oldcastle author Joe McGuire developed a curriculum that focused on small group discussions and exercises within the formal review. With issues and applied solutions shared among peers, post-training measurement shows retention and commitment increased substantially.  

The award was presented at NRMCA’s ConcreteWorks awards luncheon held last week in Indianapolis. As the winning entry, "Environmental Education for the Construction Industry" will be featured in an upcoming edition of NRMCA’s Concrete InFocus quarterly magazine.
