The Delaware Department of Transportation has just completed construction of a pervious concrete park & ride facility in Lewes, reports NRMCA Senior Director, Local Paving, Ken Justice. The parking lot was designed by DelDOT with help from Justice. The project consisted of nearly 3,000 cubic yards of 8" thick pervious concrete on a 12" stone recharge bed. The concrete was supplied by NRMCA member Atlantic Concrete Company’s Lewes plant and was installed by NRMCA Certified Installer Novacrete of South Amboy, NJ. Two weeks were needed to prepare the site and another 15 working days to install the concrete.

"Good weather and an experienced contractor made this project a success," said David Dodd, DelDOT Material Division Manager. DelDOT has completed two other pervious concrete projects in Lewes and plans to continue to design and specify pervious concrete for future projects.
