The November 2016 newsletter of the National Concrete Consortium reports the following:
• MAP Brief – Causes of Early Cracking in Concrete Bridge Decks – lays out the current understanding on factors that increase or reduce bridge deck cracking;
• Two recent research projects by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and the Iowa Highway Research Board studied effects of internal curing on the fresh and hardened properties of concrete and on concrete shrinkage cracking and anticipated service life;
• A recent Minnesota DOT project reviewed the performance of in-service pavements at the MnROAD facility in order to create a draft specification for the aggregate base/subbase for concrete pavements; and
• The Florida DOT recently investigated the environmental effects of concrete grinding residue and recycled concrete aggregate.
