During last month's World of Concrete expo in Las Vegas, the NRMCA/ASCC Joint Paving Committee met for 1.5 hours, lead by committee Chairman Paul Albanelli of Albanelli Contractors, Livonia, MI. The committee determined its top priority would be to develop a tool kit for contractors and producers to use in their local markets to promote, sell and install quality concrete parking lots. NRMCA will develop the tools once they are determined; the committee chairman asked for feedback from contractors in the room as to what they wanted in the kit. Another priority of the joint committee is to help teams of contractors and producers reach design engineers in the early stages of a plan to get concrete pavement in the drawings rather than trying to flip existing asphalt designs. Examples like the NRMCA Parking Lot Boot Camps were discussed.
NRMCA Senior Vice President, Local Paving, Jon Hansen provided a list of NRMCA Local Paving team members by region and will expand that network to include partners in each region for distribution by the next meeting. Hansen's colleague, Senior Director, Local Paving, Amanda Hult presented an overview of NRMCA's Design Assistance Program and encouraged those in attendance to submit projects as NRMCA is fully staffed and is looking to assist on projects.
