Concrete Overlay Project at Missouri Restaurant Stands Test of Time

On a recent trip to Southern Missouri, NRMCA Senior Vice President, Local Paving, Jon Hansen went to check on the performance of a 2013 project that incorporated an overlay of the existing asphalt along with a new parking lot section.
"Cantina Laredo in Springfield, Missouri (seen below) looks great, as good as it did when first paved over three years ago," Hansen said. "There are no noticeable problems or random cracks."
The 2013 project was the first that utilized an NRMCA Design Assistance Program (DAP) for both a new parking lot section incorporated with a concrete overlay of the existing asphalt on the same project. Special detailing in the DAP was provided for the transition where the overlay meets new parking lot paving.
