President Trump campaigned on rebuilding and revitalizing America’s aging and crumbling infrastructure, and last week the White House released its plan to invest $1.5 trillion in the nation’s infrastructure. On February 13, NRMCA and the North American Concrete Alliance (NACA) hosted a Webinar entitled “Cement and Concrete Industry: Infrastructure State of the Union.” The Webinar, which was made available to all NRMCA members, government affairs representatives from NRMCA and other NACA members, presented an overview of the infrastructure proposal released by the White House with the 2019 budget, the status of infrastructure on Capitol Hill, the politics behind the proposals and their potential for passage, and discussed the importance of constituent grassroots engagement in getting Congress to act on the infrastructure package. Approximately 150 people participated in the Webinar.
NRMCA has been active in lobbying Congress for an infrastructure bill and will continue to advocate for Congress to pass an infrastructure bill and address the impending shortfalls of the Highway Trust Fund.
