NRMCA worked closely with members of two coalitions – the North American Concrete Alliance (NACA) and the Highway Materials Group (HMG) – to present two separate events for the recently-held TCC Fly-In and Infrastructure Week. In coordination with NACA, NRMCA hosted a Resilient Construction Panel on Capitol Hill, highlighting the importance of federal legislation to incentivize building and rebuilding to withstand natural disasters, minimizing the damage to property, loss of economic activity and threat to building’s occupants. Among the speakers were Rep. Elizabeth Esty (CT-5), a co-chair of the Resilient Construction Caucus, and Major General John Peabody (Ret.), former deputy commander of the Army Corps of Engineers for civil works. NACA is a coalition of 11 cement and concrete related associations, including the Portland Cement Association and American Concrete Paving Association.
NRMCA also joined HMG partners National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association and North American Paving Association in hosting a lunch briefing for association members, with presentations on federal appropriations, infrastructure funding, the Highway Trust Fund, and how to conduct meetings and follow-up with members of Congress.
NRMCA continues to work with coalition partners to address the government affairs needs of the industry.
