House Transportation Chairman Releases Infrastructure Package

On Monday, July 23, House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster unveiled a draft infrastructure bill. While the legislative and political calendar provides little place for a full-throated infrastructure push in 2018, this draft is intended to spark discussion and provide a framework for future infrastructure efforts by Congress.
NRMCA applauds the release of this package and is eager to continue the push for a $1 trillion-plus federal infrastructure investment. Not only does this sort of infrastructure investment enhance our ability to compete and to move goods, but national infrastructure projects and secondary state and local projects are concrete-intensive, supporting the ready mixed industry and related construction industries. In addition, a broad infrastructure package like the one envisioned by House Transportation Committee leadership will provide a legislative vehicle for ready mixed concrete-specific provisions.
