In a big win for NRMCA and the ready mixed concrete industry, the House and Senate agreed to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration and include the Disaster Relief Reform Act (DRRA). This legislation includes a requirement that the president set aside an amount equal to 6% of funds provided in disaster relief in a pre-disaster mitigation account, established by the DRRA, to be disbursed through grants to states and localities for projects and activities that enhance resiliency and enforce building codes.
One of NRMCA’s primary Government Affairs goals is to promote federal policy that emphasizes construction that uses resilient materials and techniques. NRMCA has partnered with the BuildStrong Coalition and the North American Concrete Alliance to support the DRRA. Resilient construction is concrete intensive and benefits American communities and the ready mixed concrete industry.
