NRMCA Adds New Building Codes Expert

Scott Campbell, Ph.D., P.E. is the newest member of NRMCA’s building promotion team. Based in Milwaukee, Campbell is a senior vice president of structures and codes; he will join his colleagues in advancing the interests of the industry in model codes and technical standards, and support state and local advocacy efforts. Scott holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. He has multiple publications in the areas of nonlinear analysis and blast design of buildings.
Campbell is a member on various committees of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI). He is a member of the Board of Directors and president-elect of the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) of ASCE. Campbell is a registered professional engineer in six states.
Before joining NRMCA, Campbell was director of code technology at the Portland Cement Association. He has more than 30 years’ experience in engineering and academia and has been involved in technical standard development for over 20 years. In his new role, he will work closely with engineers and architects, code advocates, and legislative specialists to offer technically correct code-related solutions that maintain public safety and increased building resilience.
