NRMCA Expands Building and Paving Promotions Team

Derek Torres has joined NRMCA as project manager, concrete promotion, for both Build With Strength and Pave Ahead. Based in Philadelphia, he will help the building and pavement promotion teams to identify and educate developers, architects, engineers and contractors about the benefits and advantages of concrete over asphalt, wood and steel in hopes of converting projects to concrete.
Before joining NRMCA, Torres worked as a quality control technician for NRMCA member The Silvi Group Companies on major concrete projects throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. His daily responsibilities included performing ACI field tests, ensuring aggregates and cement met DOT specifications, developing new mix designs and ensuring concrete plants were up to date with their certifications. Mr. Torres attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology where he earned a bachelor of science degree in architecture and and a bachelor of science degree in engineering technology with the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program. He also has a minor in business.
