NRMCA’s second virtual Dispatcher Training Forum will run February 22-26. There are only 18 seats remaining. This training opportunity is a terrific way to support those dispatchers who normally cannot travel. Please note that with 20 hours of lectures in a 5-day period, attendees and their supervisors should plan for an intense learning week, just as if this class was face-to-face. Attendees will be shipped their study binders and textbooks before the class starts; due to possible delivery delays by UPS because of the pandemic, last minute registrations will not be accepted, so please plan now.
To be specific about the online format, the class will start with a live kickoff session on Monday, February 22. Immediately afterward, registrants will be able to access lecture material 24/7 between February 22 - 26. A closing, live session for Q & A and test instructions will be held on February 26. The required online exam will be on Monday, March 1, from 11 a.m. to noon Eastern time. Key skills covered are:
- ASTM-C94 and other technical knowledge that assure the order’s materials are correct;
- The plant’s production system as well as Drivers’ Hours of Service that impact efficient delivery timing;
- Properly handling of technical, practical and customer-service issues;
- Juggling priority customers, advance notices, callbacks, plant managers’ and sales reps’ demands;
- Managing stress, building phone skills and using peer relationships; and
- Dealing with the gazillions of details that can stifle the system’s flow and the bottom line.
