Washington, DC, city officials have released Resilient Design Guidelines which suggests ways to make both new and existing buildings more resilient. The primary focus is on climate change and, in particular, the increased risks due to flooding and increased temperatures. The recommendations that could impact the concrete industry include increased reliance on passive energy measures such as thermal mass, using flood and mold resistant materials, and increasing termite protection.
