Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Designing infrastructure to achieve functional resilience - the ability to perform a specified set of initial functions after an extreme event - is crucial to obtaining true value for our country’s investment. A recent article in ASPIRE – The Concrete Bridge Magazine by NRMCA Senior Vice President, Structures and Codes, Scott Campbell, and Brian Killingsworth, executive vice president of local paving, defines functional resilience, its importance to infrastructure design and how a lack of full consideration of resilience led to a loss of functionality for an extended time during a recent winter storm event.

Build With Strength is a coalition led by NRMCA that promotes concrete building systems through communications, project promotion, education and advocacy.
