Justin McCain has joined NRMCA as director, building innovations, covering Texas and Oklahoma. Based in the Dallas area, Mr. McCain’s primary goal is to promote concrete as the primary structural system and building material for buildings. He will accomplish this by building awareness of advanced concrete technologies while connecting the design community to NRMCA’s in-house design assistance programs.
Prior to joining NRMCA, he worked in the heavy civil construction industry for 15 years, beginning his career with the Washington State Department of Transportation and then with various general contractors. As a construction manager, he delivered complex underground infrastructure, tunnels, roadways and site development projects for commercial buildings and schools. The majority of his contracting experience has utilized alternative project delivery methods, principally Design-Build. McCain's experience with ready mixed concrete includes drilled shafts, cast-in-place walls, bridge decks, roadways, building foundations and shotcrete. His most recent projects include a $30 million 60-inch storm drain interceptor and outfall in downtown Tacoma, WA, and a 30-foot diameter tunnel, roadway and utilities for the $1.2 billion Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
Mr. McCain’s transition into the concrete industry expands upon his experience successfully delivering civil engineering projects, all of which have incorporated ready mixed concrete in different capacities.
