By far the most feasible option to reduce CO2 from cements is to partially replace the clinker component with substitutes. Calcined clay is an excellent alternative to traditional supplementary cementitious material. Concrete Innovations Session 10: Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3) will discuss the opportunities, challenges and progress of LC3 in the United States and other parts of the world. It is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern time and will feature the following speakers:
- LC3 / LC2 a Breakthrough Technology to Lower CO2 - Karen Scrivener, professor, Construction Materials Laboratory, EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland
- Opportunities to Demonstrate Low Carbon Concrete in Transportation Infrastructure - Tom Van Dam, principal at NCE, Hancock, MI
- Manufacturing LC3 - Opportunities and Challenges - Cheng Qi, technical center director, Ash Grove Cement Company
