Build With Strength (BWS) was the Title Sponsor for the Multifamily Executive Leadership Conference held earlier this month in Vail, CO, reports NRMCA Senior Director, Building Innovations, Patrick Matsche. The conference is an invitation-only event that draws C-Level executives from the multifamily development community. Leaders from around the U.S. heard from their peers who have conquered new avenues, influencing design build and operating decisions.
Matsche and his colleagues Lionel Lemay and Michael Wymant had exclusive access to the group of decision makers, meeting one on one with the owners of multifamily development firms. BWS invited Ryan and Heidi Bedford of Bedford Development to speak in support of concrete/Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) construction practices along with the enhanced ROI benefits of concrete structures. Bedford, based in Waukesha, WI, is an owner operator of multifamily housing, responsible for over $150 million in new development.
Said Casey Koenig, director of acquisitions at Fractional Capital, Fort Mills, SC, “The relationship I have built with Michael, Patrick and the NRMCA team at the MFE conferences has afforded me with the opportunity to present my investors, and the homeowners who will ultimately live in the communities, that we develop out of whole cloth, built in concrete, both the streetscapes and ICF homes with resilient, sustainable and cost effective solutions. We build in coastal and desert locations and concrete is universally available, and nothing beats reinforced concrete for our clients.”
Developers were also invited to tour a nearby ICF hotel under development, Matsche said. After the tours, several developers requested support from BWS to move their projects to concrete/ICFs. An owner operator from the Seattle area commented on discussions to convert his project pipeline to ICFs; he was with Clark Construction, Bainbridge Island, WA. Clark Construction's principals and design build teams have attended BWS developer roundtables held in Oregon and California over the past two years. Developers from every region of the country have committed to working with the BWS team to build their upcoming multifamily projects with concrete.
