Build With Strength, NRMCA Presents at Architectural Engineering Conference Held in Denver

Build With Strength was recognized as a collaborating organization for the American Society of Civil Engineer’s (ASCE) 10th Biennial Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) Conference, held in Denver, reports NRMCA Director, Building Innovations, Brandon Wray. The conference, titled Climate Conscientiousness and Resilience: The Need for Integrated Building Solutions, emphasized the need for architects and engineers to plan for the expected and unexpected impacts of climate change while exploring opportunities to deliver low-carbon and hazard resilient buildings for the future.

Wray (seen here) presented Reducing Concrete's Carbon Impact alongside California Nevada Cement Association’s (CNCA) Technical Director Nathan Forrest. The presentation was well received with many designers in attendance expressing an immense amount of interest in leveraging concrete as a resilient and sustainable solution to the industry’s climate aspirations. In addition, Wray supported the U.S. Resiliency Council’s Evan Reis in his presentation, Resilient Design: Performance Assessment of Structural Materials. Together, these two concrete-focused topics reinforced the notion that sustainability and resilience are inextricably interconnected. The information put forward by ASCE and NRMCA continues to help the design industry navigate opportunities to leverage concrete as a preferred building material.
