Jeremiah Lemons, vice president of CRH Americas Materials Northwest and Bruce Chattin, executive director at the Washington Aggregates & Concrete Association and the managing director of the Washington chapter of the American Concrete Institute, accepted Habitat for Humanity – Spokane, WA’s Partner in Innovation Award at the recently held Hope Builders Luncheon. NRMCA Senior Director Building Innovations, Patrick Matsche who also attended the event said “it was heartwarming and humbling to be a part of the initial build and to see the level of commitment from the ready mix community in support of such a worthy goal.
NRMCA’s Build With Strength’s partnership with Producer members and Habitat for Humanity continues to build resilient, energy efficient and volunteer friendly homes across the U.S. The goal is for this partnership to help build at least 50 of houses in 50 states, Matsche said. Habitat for Humanity is currently working on six new affordable homes in Spokane County and H4H-Spokane has committed to building future homes utilizing Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs). H4H-Spokane Chief Operating Officer Eric Lyons said, “I will NEVER build a stick frame home again. We estimate that heating and cooling costs are going to be approximately $150 per year.”
