The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Conference for 2023 was held in Tampa, FL, from June 23 - 28. NRMCA's representatives, Dr. Julian Mills-Beale, Tiffany Reed Villarreal and Tien Peng, (seen here are Reed Villarreal and Mills-Beale) attended the conference to advocate for the concrete industry on various topics, including building performance analysis, concrete decarbonization, thermal bridging, seismic design, wind design and flood-related design.
ASHRAE 2023 provided an opportunity for NRMCA to contribute valuable insights to ASHRAE's SSPC 90.1 Main and Subcommittee as well as the ASHRAE 189.1 Committee, responsible for developing the "Standard for the Design of High-Performance, Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings," among others. During the conference, the ASHRAE work groups presented ongoing ballots and work items that had an impact on the industry, including topics like Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), urban heat islands and resiliency. Looking ahead, the next ASHRAE Annual Conference is scheduled for June 2024 in Indianapolis
