The National Medal of Honor Museum is targeting March 2025 for its grand opening, as close to March 25 as possible because that is National Medal of Honor Day, said the president and CEO of the museum, Chris Cassidy, who was a keynote speaker at an NRMCA ConcreteWorks a few years ago.
Ground was broken on the museum in Arlington, TX, 17 months ago. Since then, a number of individuals, families, foundations and companies have donated more than $230 million toward construction. Cassidy said there is about $42 million left to raise in the capital campaign. The $275 million total funds:
- Design and construction of the museum;
- Design, fabrication and installation of museum exhibits;
- Acquisition and restoration of exhibit artifacts;
- Technology development and installation of interactives;
- Ongoing operational costs through museum opening;
- Creating the National Medal of Honor Griffin Institute; and
- Approval and site selection for the National Medal of Honor Monument (a separate Monument capital
campaign will launch once initial capital campaign goals are reached).
This new annual campaign will take place each year in November in conjunction with Veterans Day related activities.
