The Florida Concrete & Products Association (FCPA) and Florida Department of Transportation held their fourth annual Pavewise Concrete Conference earlier in September, reports NRMCA Senior Director, Local Paving, Amanda Hult. The conference was opened by Steve Friess, chairman of the American Concrete Pavement Association and Jared Perdue, secretary of Florida DOT (shown here). Attendees learned the advantages of concrete overlays, including the results of Florida's US 1 concrete overlay project which is still performing well after 35 years and close to three million trucks traveling on portions of the road. Competition in the market was also discussed, with attendees told that competition drives down prices and increases quality of workmanship.
This event brings together contractors, researchers and agency owners who collaborate in order to improve the performance, sustainability and resilience of our road network.
