Late last month, NRMCA and the California Nevada Cement Association (CNCA), hosted a Concrete Parking Lots Boot Camp in Fresno, CA, reported NRMCA Senior Director, Local Paving, Greg Halsted. The daylong event was held at the request of Heavy Roads Industries (HRI), a local concrete contractor specializing in site concrete, roller-compacted concrete and soil stabilization. Halsted (seen here, flanked at left by CNCA's Clay Slocum and on the right by HRI's David Cruce) presented an overview of American Concrete Institute 330 documents centering on concrete parking lots design and construction; provided training on concrete overlays of parking lots; reviewed the sustainability benefits of concrete over asphalt for parking lots and led an interactive discussion with examples of the PavementDesigner thickness design program for concrete parking lots.
The program was attended by 14 concrete professionals, including designers, owners, contractors and concrete suppliers from throughout California's Central Valley region. They were also introduced to the tools and support available through NRMCA and CNCA, including NRMCA's Design Assistance Program and CNCA technical resources.
